Finding land/property

We are always looking for affordable land to develop

Eden Housing Association (EHA) exists to provide homes to rent and low cost affordable housing for sale to local people on a shared ownership basis.

To meet demand for affordable housing, the Association requires a steady supply of building land and is continually searching for suitably located parcels of land with development potential.

The Association works closely with local councils and Cumbria Rural Housing Trust to identify areas where affordable housing is needed. This process of establishing a need for housing directs our search for building land.

As a non-profit making organisation in receipt of Homes and Communities Agency funding, the Association aims to pay a fair price for building land. While the price paid reflects the opinion of local valuer’s, it also has to satisfy our own internal appraisal process which determines whether or not the scheme makes sense financially.

The Association builds small scale developments in rural areas typically 2 or 3 units, maybe 5 or 6 units depending on established need. Large tracts of land are not therefore required.

We are always pleased to hear from Landowners or Parish Councils with knowledge of greenfield or brownfield plots of land with development potential for low cost housing to meet local need.

The Association also buys existing houses and buildings suitable for conversion as an alternative to developing new build.

Our Land Agent will be pleased to assess any land, houses or redundant buildings and can be contacted on 01768 861445 during office hours.
