Heysham Gardens & Heysham Meadow - Carlisle's unique Extra Care scheme

Working in partnership with Carlisle City Council and Cumbria County Council we have completed the extra care development at Brookside in the Belle Vue ward of Carlisle. The scheme provides 60 mixed tenure homes, principally for over 55's who require some social care services but who wish to remain independent in their own homes. Eden Housing Association's Support Team is now well established and working with residents to provide a range of activities and community events.

The homes consist of:

• 2 bedroom apartments
• 2 bedroom bungalows (some with car ports)
• 3 bedroom bungalows
• 3 bedroom houses (includes ground floor bedroom and bathroom)

For sale and rent

The demand for these homes means that the majority of the properties for rent have now been allocated and residents have moved in. There are still one or two bungalows and houses  available - please contact the Support Team at Heysham Gardens for the most up to date information on 01228 402208.

Properties for sale

Since the show bungalow opened, there has been a constant flow of people looking to buy homes in the scheme. Almost half the properties for sale have now been sold or reserved and interest in the remaining properties continues to be high.

Smooth Move scheme

The 'Smove Move' scheme allows people to move in to the scheme straight away - paying rent until their homes are sold. This has proved to be the most popular way to ensure buyers secure the home of their choice. As these have been created to be 'lifetime homes', once sold, it is unlikely that they will return to the market for some time. The Smooth Move means buyers can take advantage of the care and support services immediately, moving in to a home that is your own and one which gives you independence and the reassurance of care when you need it.

Show home open

The show bungalow (which follows the same footprint as the apartments) is now open and serves as a blue print for the apartments. The size of the rooms, the light and the space have all reaceived positive coments from those viewing the properties.
