Heysham Gardens - the Carlisle Extra Care Housing Development

Heysham Gardens and Heysham Meadow the unique new Carlisle Extra Care development project

We are working in partnership with Carlisle City Council and Cumbria County Council to build and provide an extra care village at Brookside in the Belle Vue ward of Carlisle. The scheme will provide 60 mixed tenure homes, principally for over 55's who require some social care services but who wish to remain independent in their own homes. When complete, Eden Housing Association will also be providing the Support Services for the scheme.

Work on the development began in August 2009 and the homes are due for completion in Spring 2011.

Latest development update

The ground source heat pump is intalled to provide energy for the underground heating in the main building. The timber frame construction is now in place for most of the homes, solar panels are being fitted to the bungalows, and the preparation is in hand for the installation of the sedum roof on the main Heysham Gardens building .
