Household Contents Insurance
Many of our customers believe that Eden Housing Association automatically insure their furniture, belongings and decorations against fire, theft, vandalism or water damage such as burst pipes – THIS IS NOT THE CASE.
Unfortunately, some customers only realise this after the damage has been done. However we have tried to make it easier for our customers to insure belongings under a special household contents insurance scheme. The insurance is arranged with Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Plc and is available only to Eden Housing Association customers.
There are two levels of cover available. Simple cover does not include any cover for Accidental Damage. There is also the option to add cover for Personal Belongings, Hearing Aids, Wheelchairs or Pedal Cycles to Simple or Simple Plus. (The costs for covers are all detailed within the attached application form).
Simple Cover
- Most household goods and contents including pedal cycles and computer equipment are insured when in the home.
- They are covered against loss or damage caused by specific events such as theft, fire and flood.
- Also insured are lost or stolen keys, freezer contents, however it’s the customer’s own legal liability to the public and the cost of alternative accommodation.
- Improvements customers have made to the home such as fitted kitchens, bathrooms, wardrobes, laminate flooring, patio doors etc (but not greenhouses or conservatories).

Simple Plus includes Accidental Damage cover
It is important to notify the insurers about your claim at the earliest opportunity, this way they can ensure that your claim is handled as efficiently as possible, and avoid any further problems.

Completed application forms must be returned to RSA, Ryan Direct Group, Quay Point, Lakeside, Boulevard, Doncaster, DN4 5PL or by telephoning 0345 671 8172 and apply over the phone.
