Social Tenants Access to Information Requirement Scheme (STAIRs)

What is STAIRs?

The Social Tenants Access to Information scheme gives all tenants in the UK the legal right to request more information on how housing association’s such as Eden Housing manage their services.

There’s two phases to the new legislation being introduced;

Phase 1; Publication Scheme (from 1 October 2026)

Social Landlords are required to proactively publish key information about how they manage homes, such as, policies, plans and performance information.

We’re committed to being open and transparent about the services we provide and the decisions we make which affect you and your home.

We’ve organised the information using the STAIRs classifications below;

You can find out information about Eden Housing Association under the ‘About us’ section of the website;

  • We publish details about our spending, grants and use of service charge revenue in our financial statements;
  • We publish our Annual Report for customers
  • Our rent collections rates are published in our performance information section of our website along with our rent rates.
  • Procurement (awaiting approval from board)

  • Our current Corporate Plan and Objectives sets our strategic priorities for 2024 – 2028.

Phase 2; Information requests (From 1 April 2027)

From 1 April 2027, tenants (or a designated representative) will be able to make requests for information related to the management of social housing; such as policies, plans and actions carried out in the management of housing and information captured and retained to support these activities.
